Fecal Incontinence, also referred to as accidental bowel leakage, is when a person unexpectedly leaks stool from the rectum.  It can range from a small amount of stool to a full bowel movement.

InterStim therapy involves the placement of a device that sends mild electrical pulses to the sacral nerves near the tailbone.  These nerves control the bowel functions .  Bowel control problems are the result of poor communication between the brain and the sacral nerves; the InterStim device bridges the communication gap and offers long lasting results.
